“This tour was well organised, with central pick up points in Tirana. The bus ride towards the mountains was a bit bumpy but fine; the ground is naturally rugged. The trek to the top of the mountain was enjoyable and doesn’t take too long, but rewarded by the spectacular views at the top. Irvi was a fantastic guide in leading the group up the mountain and also helping to take photos for the people who wanted this. There is also a restaurant where food/drinks are available, just before where the trek starts; if anyone doesn’t fancy the trek to the top, they can wait there. I really enjoyed this tour…”

We had a tour booked with Exploringwithgysi (through Viator) which we really excited for, we were at the wrong location (our fault) our tour guide messaged us and said he would wait 5 minutes. The start time of the tour is 9:00am, We were running and would have arrived at 9:05 but I got a message from the guide saying they had left at 9:04. Contacted the tour company and they refused to offer any refund (full or partial) They did offer us another tour next time we were Albania but as we live on the other side of the world the offer is basically useless. “This was a great hiking tour - the main hike was truly incredible with amazing views and it was great learning more about Albania. The guest houses were comfortable and food delicious and generous portions. The tour ran very smoothly, we had an injury in our group and the guide went above and beyond to make sure they got back safely. Daniel, our guide, was a very interesting and knowledgable man and truly made the tour unique. I would recommend moderate fitness for the tour as main hike is tough, but well worth it, and you are required to carry your bags (so pack light!)”

The hike is through pine forest and beautiful landscapes, with Mount Tomor looming above impressively. The castle is definitely a ruin, with no standing walls remaining, but the location is very scenic. The lunch is delicious as well, with several Albanian specialties. The guides are happy to answer any questions and have everything well organised.”

“Good experience, fantastic driver. Despite not knowing English he would go and pick some grapes and red berries for us to eat. The hike can be difficult at times but was very fun. I would advise the other travelers to take a lamp and a helmet for themselves when going into the cave as it is tricky otherwise (you can grab it from the restaurant where you will have lunch).
